WhatsApp has rolled out its Android beta version 2.25.33.8 to select testers, introducing a significant interoperability feature: third-party chats. Released on November 6, 2025, through the Google Play Beta Program, this update enables users to securely message contacts on other platforms like Signal and Telegram directly from within WhatsApp.

This crucial development is designed to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA), specifically targeting users within the European Economic Area. An opt-in feature, it preserves end-to-end encryption via the Signal Protocol. Over 5,000 beta users downloaded the update within 24 hours, with the European Commission on November 5, 2025, praising Meta's progress toward fair digital markets.
