Vivo's new X Fold6 isn't just another foldable—it's a spec monster. The device, which launched in China yesterday, packs a massive 6,900mAh battery and a 200MP Zeiss camera, all powered by a custom MediaTek chip instead of the usual Snapdragon.
A Major Shift in Silicon
For the first time in its foldable line, vivo is ditching Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors for a custom MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. The chip was co-developed with MediaTek over two years specifically for this form factor.
This move shows vivo is all-in on MediaTek's high-end silicon for its flagship experiences. Powering the software is OriginOS 6 Fold, a new version based on Android 16 that features an enhanced "Atomic Workbench" and an AI Light Office Tool suite for better productivity.
A Focus on Flagship Camera and Battery
Vivo is clearly aiming for the top spot in mobile photography with the X Fold6. The camera array includes a 200MP Samsung HPB main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
Continuing its partnership with Zeiss, the periscope telephoto is the world's first on a foldable to be Zeiss APO certified. It uses a Sony LYT-602 sensor and supports the new Zeiss Teleconverter G2, enabling an equivalent focal length of up to 200mm for high-quality zoom.
The system is further enhanced by vivo's custom V3+ imaging chip, which handles the device's advanced computational photography.
The X Fold6 also includes one of the largest batteries ever put in a book-style foldable, boasting a 6,900mAh capacity. Despite its size, the phone is expected to maintain a slim and lightweight design.
Display and Launch Details
Inside, the X Fold6 unfolds to an 8.02-inch 2K OLED panel, while the exterior sports a 6.5-inch OLED cover screen. The main Samsung E7 display hits a peak brightness of 5,000 nits and comes with TÜV Rheinland Eye Protection 3.0 ceẻtification.
The June 26 launch event in China also saw the unveiling of the vivo TWS 5 Pro earbuds. Vivo has already opened pre-reservations for the phone, teasing a "Blue Hole" gradient colorway.
A global launch window has not yet been announced. Historically, vivo's X Fold series debuts in China months before becoming available in other markets like India, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
