TP-Link is almost ready to release its first hardware targeting the next-generation Wi-Fi 8 specification. The networking company officially unveiled the Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system at IFA 2026.
While the overarching Wi-Fi 8 standard is still far from being finalized, these new devices are built to utilize the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard. According to TP-Link's announcement, this new standard is specifically designed to "address the connectivity problems people actually notice". This marks a shift in design philosophy, focusing on practical performance improvements instead of relying solely on raw speed upgrades.
Archer 8 Ultra Performance and Range
The Archer 8 Ultra, which is also designated under the model name BN19000, operates as a tri-band router. It is officially rated to deliver aggregate wireless speeds of up to 19Gbps for connected devices. For high-speed physical network connections, the router provides 10Gbps wired connectivity.
To manage these massive bandwidth capabilities, the router packs a dense array of 18 internal antennas. This hardware configuration provides a claimed coverage area capable of spanning a 3,600-square-foot home.
In a departure from traditional utilitarian router designs, the Archer 8 Ultra features a completely redesigned enclosure. According to early details, this new aesthetic is intended to be shown off on a shelf, rather than being hidden away in a closet or behind furniture.
Deco 8 Ultra Mesh System
Alongside the standalone router, TP-Link also introduced the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system to expand its Wi-Fi 8 lineup. This multi-node mesh hardware provides enhanced aggregate throughput, reaching up to 22Gbps over wireless connections.
Like the Archer 8 Ultra, the Deco system also includes 10Gbps wired connectivity. This ensures the mesh nodes can fully support high-speed wired backhaul configurations or direct local device connections without creating a bottleneck.
