The "Starpipe" Plan
The 16-inch "Starpipe" will run from the Port of Brownsville directly to the Starbase launch site. Its mission is to transport natural gas, which SpaceX will then process on-site into liquid methane—the fuel for Starship’s Raptor engines.
Why It Matters: Fueling an Unprecedented Launch Cadence
Starship's thirst for fuel is immense, consuming roughly 630,000 gallons of liquid methane for every launch. Currently, this requires a complex and costly ballet of hundreds of tanker trucks for a single flight.
