In a partnership with startup Lifet, Samsung is integrating an AI-powered diagnostic tool into future Galaxy phones to analyze pet photos for common health issues.
Soon, checking your dog for potential health issues could be as simple as snapping a photo with your Galaxy phone. Samsung is bringing its Galaxy AI into the world of pet wellness, announcing a new feature that gives pet owners a preliminary health screening tool right on their device.
Announced at the VivaTech conference, the new solution comes from a partnership with startup Lifet. The feature uses AI to detect early signs of common health problems in pets, like dental issues, cataracts, and even patellar luxation, offering a new way for owners to be proactive about their pet's health.
Samsung's goal is to make this as easy as taking any other picture of your pet. Using a Galaxy phone, you’ll snap a photo, and an AI model will analyze it for potential health red flags. The service will be accessible through the Pet Care section within the SmartThings app.
The core technology comes from Lifet, a startup from Samsung's own incubation program. Lifet already offers a similar service on its website, which it claims can identify specific health conditions with 97% accuracy.
This puts a powerful, if preliminary, diagnostic tool right where most pet owners live: on their phones. While it's no substitute for a visit to the vet, it provides a convenient, low-stress way to catch early warning signs you might otherwise miss.
The integration is expected to roll out on future Galaxy devices, making this level of AI analysis a standard feature for Samsung customers. This move positions Samsung not just against other phone makers, but as a direct competitor to a growing field of specialized pet wellness gadgets.
