The iPhone 17 Pro previously introduced a major overhaul, moving from a titanium frame and glass back to an aluminum unibody with Ceramic Shield 2. Because of this recent redesign, the iPhone 18 Pro retains the core look but introduces a smaller Dynamic Island that supports up to three simultaneous Live Activities.
Weight has slightly increased across the lineup. The iPhone 18 Pro weighs 7.44 ounces compared to the iPhone 17 Pro's 7.27 ounces. The iPhone 18 Pro Max weighs 8.78 ounces, up from 8.22 ounces on the previous model. Color options for the new generation include Silver, Black, Glacier, and Burgundy.
Specs and Real-World Performance
The most significant engine change is the A20 Pro chip, which is Apple's first 2nm smartphone chip built on TSMC's N2 process. It packs a 6-core CPU with two new super cores and a 7-core GPU that delivers up to 40% faster graphics performance than the older A19 Pro.

The primary 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera now features a variable aperture, dropping the fixed ƒ/1.78 lens from the iPhone 17 Pro. It uses six laser-cut blades to switch between four stops: ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8, and ƒ/4.0.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the largest jump in battery life in the iPhone's history, moving from 39 hours of video playback to 45 hours. The smaller iPhone 18 Pro increases its video playback from 33 hours to 36 hours.
Charging speeds have also seen noticeable improvements. You can reach a 50% charge in around 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter, beating the 20 minutes required by the iPhone 17 Pro with a 40W adapter.
Price and Value
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for the 256GB model, representing a $100 increase over the iPhone 17 Pro's $1,099 starting price. The 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB. Storage tiers scale up to 2TB for both models.
For existing iPhone 17 Pro owners, the general-purpose everyday experience carries over largely unchanged. The upgrade makes sense primarily for users who specifically need manual Pro camera controls or sustained gaming performance from the A20 Pro chip.
