After nearly a year of waiting, the Meta-owned platform has finally released one of its most requested features, giving users full creative control over their profile aesthetic.
Your Instagram grid is no longer trapped in chronological order.
The app has finally rolled out its most-requested feature: the ability to reorder posts on your profile. The update, which began its global launch on June 8, 2026, lets you turn your profile into a curated visual portfolio.
For years, the Instagram grid has been a rigid, time-based reflection of your posts. The new ability to rearrange photos and videos finally puts you in the designer's seat.
Now, you can curate your profile's aesthetic, spotlight key content regardless of when it was posted, and build a more intentional visual story. Photographers can now group their best work by color or theme, and brands can create a visual narrative that isn't dictated by the calendar.
This move directly addresses a long-standing desire within the Instagram community for more control. App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi first spotted evidence of an "edit grid" option back in 2022, signaling this change has been on the company's radar for years.
Getting started is simple and built right into your profile view. The process for rearranging content is integrated directly into the existing interface.
To access the feature:
Navigate to your Instagram profile.
Tapping "Reorder grid" opens a dedicated editing window where you can drag and drop posts into a new arrangement.
Any posts you have pinned to the top of your profile will remain fixed. These pinned posts appear blacked out and are not movable within the editing window, preserving their priority placement. Once you’re satisfied with the new layout, just save the changes to update your public profile.
