Google just rolled out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 for eligible Pixel devices, addressing critical system crashes involving Gemini and multiple persistent UI glitches.
Now that QPR1 is wrapping up, Google’s eyes are on its December 2026 release cycle. This new update, labeled as build CP41.260701.005, includes a minor SDK release for developers and focuses heavily on system stability.
Critical Fixes and System Improvements
Other significant fixes in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 include:
- Notification Reliability: Addressed a bug where notifications randomly became invisible in the notification shade until users forced a system restart.
- Lock Screen Media: Fixed an issue where media player controls briefly flashed on the lock screen upon waking the device, even when app notifications were disabled.
- Bluetooth Connectivity: Resolved silent failures during Bluetooth re-pairing following a remote bond loss.
- Touch and UI: Corrected a multi-finger drag-and-drop bug that stopped source applications from receiving subsequent touch events, and fixed window-level UI blur effects that failed to render properly.
- Developer Tools: Patched ML-DSA key generation failures and fixed inaccurate window bounds logging in Accessibility debugging data.
Device Compatibility and End of Life
The Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 system images are available for the Android Emulator and a wide range of Pixel hardware. Supported devices span from the Pixel 6a through the newly supported Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel 10a.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are excluded from this OTA update. These devices have reached End of Life status, making the previous Android 17 QPR1 beta series their final official testing track.
