Google already knows its users quite well, and now the company is getting creative with its latest mobile offering. Google has expanded the availability of its AI-powered Dreambeans application, making the experimental software accessible to all eligible Google accounts across the United States.
The personalized discovery app is now widely available for download on both Android and iOS platforms.
Expanding availability
The broader public rollout arrives three months after the initial Google Labs experiment launched exclusively for AI Ultra subscribers. Google had already started removing the subscription requirement in August, and the latest expansion completes that rollout for everyone aged 18 and older in the U.S..
For users unfamiliar with the service, Dreambeans generates a small, curated collection of personalized daily stories that visually resemble Instagram stories. Instead of utilizing an endless scrolling feed, Dreambeans deliberately serves a limited collection of these stories each day.
Users can open a specific story to view more detailed information, save the content for later viewing, or share it directly with someone else. The app also includes a mechanism for users to submit feedback, which helps refine and improve future daily recommendations.
New data sources and features
Gemini now joins an extensive list of optional connected applications, which already includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Search, and YouTube. The information helps Dreambeans come up with stories around things such as places to explore, shows to watch, or upcoming events.
The app utilizes context from different services to tailor these suggestions accurately. For example, if a user has a scheduled trip marked in their connected Calendar, Dreambeans could display curated suggestions related to that specific travel destination.
Meanwhile, connected YouTube activity or Google Search history can help the application pick up on the user's hobbies and newer interests to recommend relevant content. Additionally, users who choose to connect Google Photos can have images of themselves, their friends, and their family dynamically integrated into their daily story feeds.
