DJI just shook up the sub-250-gram drone market again. Launched this week on April 23, the new Lito 1 and Lito X1 squeeze high-end 4K video and serious obstacle detection into a chassis that fits in your palm.
These aren't just stripped-down toys. Both drones squeeze out a 36-minute flight time from standard batteries and hit top speeds of 18 meters per second. They manage this while keeping you from crashing into trees, thanks to standard omnidirectional obstacle sensing.
Advanced Optics and Sensor Upgrades
If you want the best footage, the Lito X1 is clearly the one to watch. DJI packed it with a surprisingly large 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, 48MP effective pixels, and an f/1.7 aperture.
That hardware combo unlocks 14 stops of dynamic range for HDR video. It's a massive perk when you're shooting against a blown-out, bright sky.
You also get 10-bit D-Log M support for real color grading. But the absolute best feature might be the 42 GB of built-in storage. Let's face it: we've all hiked out to a scenic spot only to realize the MicroSD card is still sitting in our laptop back home.
The base Lito 1 steps down to a 1/2-inch 48MP CMOS sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. Yet, for a cheaper entry point, it still shoots crisp 4K video and even handles 8K photo capture.
Automated Tracking and Flight Safety
Nobody wants to crash their new drone on day one. That's why the 5-lux omnidirectional obstacle sensing across both models is such a big deal.
It actively spots walls, cliffs, and branches to keep you out of trouble. The Lito X1 goes a step further by slapping forward-facing LiDAR on the front for pinpoint spatial awareness in tight spaces.
Filming moving subjects is also dead simple. ActiveTrack handles the heavy lifting, autonomously following targets moving up to 12 meters per second.
Throw in automated modes like QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, and Panorama, and you get cinematic b-roll with a few taps. Afterward, QuickTransfer WiFi lets you dump the files straight to your phone.
Pricing and Global Availability
The pricing here is undeniably aggressive. The standard Lito 1 starts at just €339, while the LiDAR-equipped Lito X1 sits at €419.
If you want the extra batteries, the Fly More Combos run €479 and €579, respectively. Crucially, they tip the scales at exactly 249 grams, keeping them in the hassle-free C0/UK0 regulatory categories.
You can buy them right now from DJI and authorized retailers—unless you live in the United States. The current lack of US availability is a glaring omission. It strongly hints that DJI is navigating ongoing regulatory heat or holding back inventory for a staggered North American push.
For those who can buy them, DJI Care Refresh remains an option to cover inevitable accidents, including flyaways and water damage.
