The macOS 26.7 Discovery
Apple on Monday officially seeded the macOS 26.7 Release Candidate. This upcoming software update has seemingly leaked more than 10 new Apple products well before their intended announcements.
MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris originally discovered these numerous hardware references. He found the information buried directly within the operating system's underlying code.
According to Perris, macOS 26.7's code contains references to new smart home hubs, unreleased audio gear, and the long-rumored foldable iPhone. The update, which is also referred to as macOS Tahoe 26.7, is thoroughly full of references to these unreleased Apple products.
Unreleased Hardware Revealed
Camera-Equipped Audio
The macOS 26.7 code contains specific, detailed references to upcoming audio hardware. Most notably, the system files confirm the development of AirPods equipped with infrared cameras. These integrated infrared cameras are specifically designed to power Visual Intelligence features.
These camera-equipped audio models may officially launch under the "AirPods Pro" moniker. The code findings suggest they will not use the "AirPods Ultra" branding. Additionally, unreleased AirPods 5 models are also explicitly referenced within the software update.
OLED Displays and Foldables
The leaked code reveals that Apple is actively preparing its first-ever MacBook models featuring OLED displays. Alongside the laptops, the findings confirm the development of the first-ever iPad mini models utilizing OLED screen technology.
Furthermore, the software update contains clear internal references to a highly anticipated mobile device. The code explicitly points to the long-rumored foldable iPhone, indicating ongoing development.
Smart Home Expansion
Apple's home entertainment lineup is also slated for a hardware refresh. A next-generation Apple TV is referenced in the code, which will reportedly come bundled with an upgraded Siri Remote.
September Launch Window
Apple's annual iPhone event traditionally takes place in September. Because of this predictable schedule, the tech community anticipates official hardware announcements very soon.
Given the timing of the macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate, at least some of the newly discovered products will likely be unveiled next month. For users wanting more details, MacRumors has published a full video recap of the findings on YouTube.
